Exciting things are happening through Disciples shared outreach ministries. Disciples are leading the New Church Movement in the USA. We are developing new leaders for congregations through our Leadership Fellows Program and institutions of higher education. Disciples continue to coordinate work trips and send volunteers to the Gulf Coast through Disciples Home Missions. Regional ministries provide vital support for congregations as they call pastors and transform into vibrant 21st century communities of faith. Join us as we continue the excitement of sharing the Good News through our common mission fund.
Disciples Mission Fund is a ministry of money that links congregations, regions, institutions of higher education and general units in the mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This ministry is a faithful witness of receiving, caring and giving in Christian community.
Disciples Mission Fund receives contributions from more than 2,800 Disciples congregations to support the worldwide mission of the church. Our ministry in your community and to the world is important. Thousands of lives are changed daily because of Disciples generosity. The General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) encourages congregations to place a line item in their budgets for Disciples Mission Fund. Congregations provide opportunities to individuals to share their abundance in over-and-above giving through Special Offerings received at Easter, Pentecost, Thanksgiving and Christmas. These four Special Offerings are designated Disciples Mission Fund giving:
EASTER – for general ministries implementation of Disciples Imperative to strengthen congregational life.
PENTECOST – for new church development, divided equally between the region in which the offering is received and general new church ministry.
THANKSGIVING – for higher education institutions who are responsible for the theological education of the church’s leaders.
CHRISTMAS – for regional ministries in the region where the funds are contributed for implementation of the church’s imperative: “To strengthen congregational life for this mission.”
Our Mission as Disciples is “to be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps to the ends of the Earth” (Acts 1:8).
